Enroll a corporate Android device

Enroll a corporate Android device

Goal: A managed corporate Android device with a verified set of settings.

Before you begin

Determine the native DPC or Android Enterprise, the COBO/COPE mode, a compatible OS, and whether initial device provisioning is acceptable.

Before enrolling, review the channel comparison and the Android enrollment procedure. The native DPC and AMAPI use different agents and provisioning steps.

Scenario illustration

Procedure

  1. Select the channel and mode.
  2. Prepare the user and the recipient group.
  3. Add and enroll the device.
  4. Configure the COBO restrictions.
  5. Assign the profiles to a test group.

Expected result

The device has appeared with the correct mode, fresh contact, applications, and actually applied parameters.

If the result differs

If enrollment did not complete, check the channel and the enrollment stage. If a profile is assigned but not in effect, check delivery and the scope of the restriction.

Changes and rollback

Confirm the recipients before changing an assignment. Test the new value on a test device first. Do not treat removing an assignment as an automatically confirmed rollback of all local settings: check the final state of the device and the application.
